Apparently my great great grandfather owned lots of land in Texas and set up a trust to keep the land in the family. My father never knew he was entitled to any land until about 10 years ago, he received a letter from lawyers asking if we would allow a certain mining company to harvest the crude and or natural gas. My father never replied and so as far as we know, the land is not being mined. My father is in his 70's and just doesn't know where to begin with his inheritence.
My questions are...
-
What steps does my father need to take to begin putting this land to work?
-
Who might we contact to learn more about this land and the details concerning his inheritance?
-
If the land has been used without our consent, could we in fact file a lawsuit against any such company?
