No, this isn't a story about how expensive DUI's can be, and if you've lost someone to a drunk driver or even killed someone, I'm sorry. I just thought I'd put that as the title for encouragement. Now to the meat and potatoes.
Some people have drug addictions, gambling problems, shopping addictions, etc.
I decided to tally up my last 4 months in Uber Rides this morning, and I found out I have a problem. Holy SHITE, I think I'm going to switch to a debilitating meth addiction. It would be cheaper.
I even defend it. I've not been driving for 4 years now, and I love it. I live in a metro area, and though it takes me twice as long to use Public Transit to get around, I get to enjoy my journey by playing on facebook or reddit. Maybe reading a book. And I still get everywhere I'm going to. I don't like having the expenses of a car whether it's payments, maintenance, gas, insurance, or whatever.
So public transit it is, and when that doesn't work, Uber is always willing to step up.
Only I got too relaxed about it. A shopping trip here, too and from the bar there, and more than a few times, I slept an extra 20 minutes because I can just uber to the train or even all the way to work. Who cares?
My wallet apparently.
Here's my monthly expenses for the last 4 months.
October: $327.62
November: $630.68
December: $641.59
January: 573.87
I think I might need to rethink my life. I have a few different ways of going about this. I can get a car, and it would obviously be cheaper. I can upgrade my living space to right next to the train. I can do just about anything after looking at those numbers.
And lastly, yes, please still get a ride home from the bar. This post isn't necessarily anti-uber, but rather a good reminder to pay attention to your expenses.
Cheers!
